Public Health Nurse
Clay County Health Department is seeking applicants for a Public Health Nurse II to work in all health department programs. Applicants must have a BSN in nursing and a current NC Registered Nurse License or an associate degree in nursing and a current NC registered nurse license with additional experience in nursing assessment and negotiation/counseling skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Must have current driver's license, OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogen Training, CPR and First Aid certification.
The manager is the chief administrator of county government. The manager is responsible to the board of commissioners for the administration of all departments of county government under the board's general control and will plan, direct and coordinate the overall operation of the County; ensuring professional operations. The manager shall direct and supervise the administration of all county offices, departments, boards, commissions and agencies under the general control of the board of commissioners, subject to the general direction and control of the board. The manager shall attend all meetings of the board of commissioners and recommend any measures that the manager considers expedient. The manager shall see that the orders, ordinances, resolutions, and regulations of the board of commissioners are faithfully executed within the county. The manager shall prepare and submit the annual budget and capital program to the board of commissioners. The manager shall annually submit to the board of commissioners and make available to the public a complete report on the finances and administrative activities of the county as of the end of the fiscal years. The manager shall make any other reports that the board of commissioners may require concerning the operation of the county offices, departments, boards, commissions, and agencies and perform any other duties that may be required or authorized by the board of commissioners.
Requirements for the position: Minimum is a Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Public or Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field. A Master's degree in a similar field is preferred. Prefer at least two years of experience as a County Manager, Assistant Manager, Department head or comparable experience at other government levels; or have at least three years of upper level management experience in Public, Military or Business Administration. The manager must be able to communicate effectively with the board, the public and agencies. Technical knowledge of and experience with local government processes will be required. Must demonstrate an ability and willingness to work collaboratively with county department heads.

Environmental Health Specialist
Applicants must have a four year college degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours of coursework in the physical or biological sciences. If not already registered, must be able to register as an environment health specialist intern by the North Carolina State Board of Environmental Health Specialist Examiners. Position will inspect food handling and institutional establishments, perform lot evaluations for placement of septic tank systems, design of said septic systems and issuance of improvement permits. Provide testing of well and spring water and interpretation of results to the public. Processing Assistant III
Clay County Health Department is seeking applicants for a processing assistant III to work in the dental clinic. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of office assistant/secretarial experience. Position will schedule appointments create, establish, and manage internal office protocols and procedures to ensure efficiency. This position may also be required to function in other areas of the Health Department for duties specific to this job function.
