Overview
Clay County Sheriff's Office is offering full time career opportunities for Detention Officer positions. This is a modernized forty-six bed facility that houses both male and female adult detainees.
The Primary purpose of this position is to provide 24-hour secure custody and proper supervision of inmates. Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to: performing regular walkthrough inspections inside the housing units, round the clock observation and monitoring, escorting of inmates inside and outside the secure confines of the facility, serving meals, escorting medical staff and visitors to and from authorized areas, as well as performing record keeping and report documenting as required.
Salary depends on education and experience. Certification is not necessary to begin work. Other benefits included with employment include paid vacation and sick time, retirement, health insurance, annual longevity pay after five years, training and other law enforcement career advancement opportunities.
Candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license, pass a pre-employment drug test, pass background check, and have a high school diploma/GED.
